Bat Poop! (Part 2 of 6)

Later, we took Grant’s boat up a narrow canyon where the red, rock walls of the canyon rose high above the water. It was very echoey there. The walls were all streaked white and black and it was probably water that caused those stains. We theorized what might have caused those streaks. Someone speculated that maybe bats had defecated on the walls. That was it! Jarl Jacobsen, the first counselor in the bishopric, decided to test that word out on the acoustical properties of the canyon. He yelled at the top of his lungs, “BAT POOP!” It echoed up and down the canyon. He yelled again, this time in the highest voice he could muster, “BAT POOP!” And then again in a funny wobbling voice, Jarl yelled, “BAATT PPOOOOOOPPPP.”
We all got into the act. We counted, “One, two, three, BAT POOP!” And the echoes seemed to go on forever.
