Old Brown of Bryce Canyon (Part 3 of 8)

Just before we were ready to go, Dad carried out a big box of food. He rolled down the window of the back door, set the box down, and we just had to scrunch tighter together. There was no complaining here. We knew that box was the all the food we would eat on our camping trip. Then Dad said, "Okay, everyone in the house for family prayers before we go." We had finally settled into our places, and most of us already had our shoes off, but we obediently filed into the house to pray for a safe journey.
After the prayer, and Mom's counsel to use the bathroom one last time before we left, we were back in the car and on our way.
We drove south on I-15 then Highway 89 through Spanish Fork Canyon. We passed each city along the way and we knew that with each town we were one step closer to our destination of Bryce Canyon. We stopped for lunch at Red Canyon. The red rocks and natural sandstone sculptures silently said to each of us, "Yes, you are almost to Bryce Canyon." I always felt as if Red Canyon was the Welcoming Committee for Bryce Canyon.
