A Cold Night On Coon Peak (Part 2 of 11)

I was one excited kid. Sure it was fun to go to the translator stations, but Coon Peak was the best. That was where KSL had it's transmitter. The translator stations just rebroadcast the signal and boosted it for people who lived in far-off valleys. But Coon peak was the point of origin for the KSL television signal.
In recent years it was renamed Farnsworth Peak, after Philo T. Farnsworth, the inventor of television who was from Utah. But it took a while for that name to catch on. For as long as I remembered, it was named Coon Peak.
Maybe I liked the name because coon rhymed with moon. It was a totally different experience to go up there. It was almost like going to the moon in a rocket.
