Youth Conference To Nauvoo (Part 1 of 6)

We went to a lot of memorable places in our Church activities over the years, most right around the Salt Lake area. And also scout camps in Utah. Dad and the rest of the bishopric accompanied the youth of our ward to many youth activities. In August of 1979 we went to Snow College for youth conference where our ward participated in the Snow Follies. We also had soccer matches, classes, a dance, and boxing for us guys. Less than a year later, in June of 1980 the Eleventh Ward sponsored a bus trip to Nauvoo, Illinois and other sites of Church History. Vera and I went along and had to miss our Granite Youth tour that year so we could go on this trip. Dad, of course went along as a member of the bishopric. So did Karen and Julie come along on the trip. Julie was not yet fourteen, the required age, but Bishop Hunter gave her a special clearance to go. We boarded the chartered bus at midnight on May 30th and drove straight through the night.
